The original Japanese voice actors of Ranma 1/2 return for the new anime

The release date for the new Ranma1/2 The anime remake will be released on October 5, 2024, and the original Japanese voice actors of Ranma, Akane, and various other characters will return. Mappa will be in charge of the animation of the new series, and a new trailer showed a glimpse of the animation and voice actors at work.

Kappei Yamaguchi will return as Ranma Saotome, Megumi Hayashibara will reprise her role as female Ranma, and Noriko Hidaka will play Akane Tendo. Genma Saotome, meanwhile, will be voiced by Shigeru “Cho” Nagashima, and Genma’s previous voice actor Kenichi Ogata will serve as narrator in the new series.

Akio Otsuka will replace Ryusuke Obayashi as Soun Tendo and Kikuko Inoue will return as Kasumi Tendo, while Minami Takayama will also recur as Nabiki Tendo. In addition, the theme song will be performed by Japanese artist ano. No name has been announced for the opening credits.

In addition, the new animation’s official website now also offers character profiles. So far, the characters featured are Ranma (in both male and female appearances) and Akane Tendo. When choosing between male and female Ranma, a water animation plays, and the icon for selecting the female Ranma is a bucket of cold water, with the option to switch to the male version being a pot of hot water.

The new anime adaptation of Ranma1/2 was announced at the end of June 2024, with new information confirmed on July 17, 2024.
