“A Bar Song” tops the TouchTunes Frontline charts, which rate music from the last 18 months, for the second quarter of 2024 (April 1 through June 30). It is also the most played song in TouchTunes’ entire song catalog (surpassing all songs on the TouchTunes Catalog charts, which rate all music released more than 18 months ago).

This follows first quarter data (January-March), in which Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey” was the most played song on the platform and number 1 in the catalog ranking. The song remains number 1 in the second quarter catalog ranking and the second most played song overall after “A Bar Song.”

“A Bar Song” tops the Frontline charts, although it wasn’t even available for the full three-month period; it was released on April 12. The track reigned Billboard‘s multimetric Hot Country Songs chart for five weeks through the latest list dated July 20, and reached the top of the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 for one frame (July 13). According to Luminate, as previously reported, it is at No. 2 on the latest Hot 100 with 69.5 million airplay viewers, 41.5 million official U.S. streams, and 21,000 downloads sold.

“Tennessee Whiskey” was released in 2015 and is available on Stapleton’s Traveller album of that year. It continues to be a popular song for streaming, not to mention playing on TouchTunes jukeboxes; the tune spent a record 447 weeks on Billboard‘s country streaming songs charts.

Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” ranks second on the Frontline chart behind “A Bar Song.” Released in June 2023, the song, which topped the Hot 100 for a week in March, saw an 18% quarter-over-quarter increase, according to TouchTunes.

“I Had Some Help” by Post Malone featuring Morgan Wallen lands at number 3 on the Frontline charts, while “Last Night” by Wallen and “Fast Car” by Luke Combs complete the top 5.

Notably, four of the top five are country songs. This genre dominance is consistent with TouchTunes’ data on all top songs on the platform; in the second quarter, country songs accounted for 36% of plays, 16 percentage points more than the next best genre (rap, 20%).

When the catalog is included, that percentage drops to 23% of the total platform for country, based on a 21% share of all catalog titles. It is still the second-highest performing genre among all catalog songs, behind rock, which takes 41% (and 38% of all songs). This is despite the fact that the entire top six of the catalog charts are country music; after “Tennessee Whiskey,” Toby Keith’s “I Love This Bar” comes in at number 2, while Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places,” Jelly Roll’s “Son of a Sinner,” and Hardy’s “Truck Bed” round out the top five.

The highest-charting rock song in the catalog is “Fat Bottomed Girls” by Queen, which appears at number 7.

Wallen has the most songs on both surveys: eight (two on Catalog, six on Frontline). The Frontline total includes his lead role on Malone’s “I Had Some Help.”

“Music superfans of all genres use the jukebox to curate shared listening experiences,” says John Stephen, Head of Music Partnerships and Audience at TouchTunes Billboard“From introducing a new generation to the classics of icons like Garth Brooks and Van Morrison to highlighting current sensations like Shaboozey and Benson Boone, TouchTunes brings people together through music in over 60,000 locations across the country.”
