“Baby Reindeer” Emmy nominations 2024: Miniseries, Lead Actor

Baby reindeer has cemented its status as one of the surprise hits of 2024, earning a total of 11 Emmy nominations, including Best Mini- or Anthology Series.

Richard Gadd’s darkly comic “true story” about his experiences with an alleged stalker was recognized, although its authenticity and security measures were disputed.

The Netflix drama will also compete for the title of best miniseries Fargo, Chemistry lessons, RipleyAnd True Detective: Nightland.

Gadd was nominated for Lead Actor in a Miniseries and also received an award in the corresponding screenplay category.

His co-stars Jessica Gunning, Nava Mau and Tom Goodman-Hill were also nominated in the supporting actor category. All of the actors, including Gadd, are nominated for the first time.

Baby reindeer was a hit with Emmy voters despite the scandal surrounding the series, which is one of Netflix’s most-watched English-language shows of all time.

Netflix is ​​defending itself against a $170 million defamation and negligence lawsuit against Fiona Harvey, who claims to be the real Martha (Gunning), the alleged convicted stalker in Gadd’s “true story.”

Harvey argued that she had not been convicted of stalking Gadd and that Baby reindeer caused her “emotional distress” after she was identified by internet detectives within a few days.

The final round of Emmy voting begins August 15 and ends August 26. ABC will broadcast the 76th Emmy Awards live on Sunday, September 15.
