Mikel Wilson releases a new book as part of Enchanted Elemental Empire Shared World.

The book, titled “Flames of Betrayal,” is the first part of his series “The Red Dragon Series.”

The book is due out later this month. Wilson said this shared “metaverse” is an exciting project that he has been involved in along with several others across the country and beyond.

“Some of our people are actually out of the country,” Wilson said. “We have people from Nevada, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia. We’re all over the place. There’s no fixed place where we all are. It’s all online. We’ve all come together to create something special.”

Wilson was born and raised in Tuscaloosa and graduated from American Christian, but currently calls Marengo County home.

“The people here have really welcomed me like one of their own,” Wilson said. “I’ve been here since 2000 and have been welcomed as a member of the community. I love the people here. Wonderful people. It’s a big difference between the city and here. I love living in a small town where everyone waves at you as you walk down the street and knows you by name.”

The summary of Wilson’s new book on Amazon reads: “In the sweltering halls of the prestigious Flame Gaiden Academy, Tamari, the fiery heiress of the Ember Union, is broken by the physical and mental rigors of her training. Treading on the brink of madness, battling fear and isolation, she has no choice but to face the crippling fear of her own failures while teetering on the edge of sanity.”

Wilson said there have been so many influences on his life.

“Frankie Perretti got me reading his Cooper Kids adventure books as a kid,” Wilson said. “JK Rowling and the Harry Potter series. I read them as a kid. My kids read them growing up. Colleen Hoover.”

Wilson also said he has connections with other local authors. He hopes others in the community will also recognize these authors and other artists who are doing good work.

“I want to give a shout out to Jennifer Meigs of Demopolis right now. She’s a great local writer,” Wilson said. “There are a lot of people doing a lot of things that are making a positive impact on this and that. They’re in the state and they should and could be supported.”

Wilson said he hopes to hold a book signing around the time of his book’s release on July 29.
