Michigan State Police reopens decades-old case of missing woman

The Michigan State Police announced this week that they are reopening the decades-old unsolved case of missing Cassandra Durham.

Cassandra has been missing since August 1987.

According to authorities and the FBI’s official missing persons website, she and her boyfriend, identified only by the initials “EB,” were traveling from Maryland to Michigan to visit her boyfriend’s grandparents near Roscommon.

Michigan State Police said the couple began their journey in a 1980 Honda Civic station wagon and likely stopped in Cedar Point on their trip. According to police, that Honda Civic broke down in or around Detroit and the friend purchased another vehicle – an Oldsmobile Cutlass (year unknown).

Cassandra spoke to her family while she was in Michigan and did not hint at any further travel plans.

The disappearance of Cassandra Durham

So far, nothing seems unusual. But when Cassandra’s boyfriend returned to Maryland after the trip, she wasn’t with him. While the boyfriend claims they both returned to Maryland, Cassandra’s father says she never came home.

She has not been seen since.

About Cassandra Durham

At the time of her disappearance in 1987, Cassandra Durham was just 19 years old. She is described as a white female with blue eyes and brown, neck-length hair. She was 5’5″ tall and weighed about 110 pounds. Cassandra is said to have had two tattoos on her hip and thigh – one with the initials of her boyfriend, “EB,” and the other with the initials of her college sorority. She was last seen carrying a small black purse. Police believe she may have traveled to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Michigan.
