Amazon Prime Day: Popular locks from Abus, Hiplok and Kryptonite at reduced prices
July 17, 2024
When you’re not using your bike, it’s important to keep your pride and joy safe and secure. Unfortunately, bike thefts are on the rise and it’s never been more important to lock up your bike, whether it’s in your garage, at the train station or outside your office.
However, not all bike locks are the same. Some locks are much more durable than others. This year’s Amazon Prime Day Sale has some of our favorite locks from our recent bike lock test available for up to 60% off.
If you’re in the market for a new bike lock, why not take advantage of the limited time discounts currently on offer? And to make your browsing easier, we’ve also added some themed music below.
When we tested the Bordo Granit X Plus 6500, it was awarded the title of best high security folding lock. With a Sold Secure Gold rating and a score of 15/15 on ABUS’ own scale, it’s a great lock that folds down into a nice compact footprint.
Weighing in at 1,574 grams, it’s also a respectable weight for riders who need to carry their lock from place to place. The only flaw we could find with the lock is that the keyhole doesn’t have a cover, leaving that area vulnerable in wet or icy weather.
Hiplok’s unique selling point has always been the ability to wear the chain locks around your waist, eliminating the hassle of trying to find an easy way to carry a chain lock with you while you ride. The ability to adjust it to fit a range of hip sizes from 28″ to 44″ without having to physically fasten it around your body is a great selling point in our opinion.
The Hiplok Gold, as the name suggests, is Gold rated by Sold Secure and has a locking circumference of 85cm. Another nice feature is the ability to remove the fabric chain cover for washing, ideal if you do a lot of riding in hot and humid weather.
Another folding lock that is currently available at a bargain price is the Kryptonite Kryptolok 610 S. Although it does not offer the same security as the Bordo Granit, it is significantly lighter and therefore a good choice for weight-conscious users.
Unless you can really justify the extra weight, of the locks currently available, we recommend purchasing the Bordo Granit as it offers a higher level of security and, while stocks last, is available at a lower price.
If you are specifically looking for a longer chain lock, the 1010 from ABUS could be the perfect chain lock for you. At 140 cm long, it gives you more space to lock multiple bikes or lock both your frame and wheels.
Due to the size and weight of this lock, it is certainly better suited for use with a car rack or in a garage or shed. Unlike the two folding locks mentioned, the 1010 also has a lock cylinder cover that prevents dirt or water from getting into the locking mechanism, which could cause problems.
