It’s time for the Patriots to choose a new touchdown song at Gillette Stadium

It’s time for the Patriots to choose a new touchdown song at Gillette Stadium

Let’s face it: Being a Patriots fan the last few years has been tough.

It’s been an uphill battle since Tom Brady left. From the COVID season with Cam Newton, to the rapid rise and fall of Mac Jones, to the Matt Patricia/Joe Judge experiment, to the bitter end with a 4-13 season, going to Gillette Stadium on Sunday is not at all the same as it was in the glory days.

And with Bill Belichick gone, it’s time to officially usher in a new era of Patriots football in Foxboro.

And it’s time for a new touchdown song.

Since 2009, the smooth tones of Bon Jovi have blared from Gillette’s sound system during every Patriots touchdown, and “This Is Our House” became the unofficial anthem for every Patriots touchdown. The connection between Bon Jovi — both to Belichick and to team owner Robert Kraft — was obvious, and while it wasn’t a particularly great song, its use at least made some sense.

But now it’s 2024. Jerod Mayo is just the franchise’s second head coach in the 21st century. The Drake Maye era is upon us. It’s time for a new song that will get the crowds at Gillette cheering every time the Patriots reach the end zone.

Whether that’s a modern smash or a classic hit is up to you. We here at The Rich Shertenlieb Show want to crowdsource and find the best options for the new song. Contact us via Instagram or X – @wzlx and @heyrichhey – or leave us feedback via the iHeartRadio app. We’ll ultimately vote on it and see how far we can move it forward.

It’s a new era in New England. And it’s time for a new song. Let’s make it happen.
