Chris Holshouser joins Sierra Biological

Chris Holshouser joins Sierra Biological as an IPM Specialist, effective June 10. Chris Holshouser comes from North Carolina where he worked for Metrolina Greenhouses Inc. as head grower for 100 acres of greenhouse production. He has been in the greenhouse industry for over 20 years and has expert knowledge of over 70 species of annuals and perennials, poinsettias, chrysanthemums and over 1,000 cultivars. Chris has extensive knowledge of growing environment manipulation, environmental control strategies, greenhouse system management, integrated pest management (IPM) using chemical and biological control strategies, production planning, crop planning and human resource management.

Chris entered the cannabis industry in 2016 primarily because of the concept of indoor cultivation. Since then, Chris has developed a unique and original indoor cannabis program “Floridigm” with specific cultivation techniques and original production strategies. Floridigm not only provides all the necessary cultivation techniques, cultivation metrics and logic, but also includes the operational specifics that support the plant material. Because Chris understands cannabis as a facultative short day plant and plans accordingly, he has developed, planned and produced over 100 cannabis strains as part of the original cannabis flower breeding program. All new strains provided plant material for cGMP cannabis product manufacturing.

Chris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Horticulture from Western Carolina University. During his studies, Chris focused on plant physiology, plant manipulation through environmental controls, and integrated pest management.
