Roseanne Barr defends Ingrid Andress’s ‘disastrous’ national anthem and tells fans to ‘back off’ after singer is admitted to rehab

ROSEANNE Barr has defended national anthem singer Ingrid Andress following her viral performance at the Home Run Derby.

Rosenne, 71, defended Ingrid in an interview with TMZ.

The controversial comedian, who herself had come under criticism for her poor performance of the national anthem many years earlier, claimed that the song was the “most difficult song in the world” to perform.

She also told TMZ that she thought Ingrid’s performance was okay, but noted that it was nowhere near as bad as her own.

Roseanne sang the national anthem during a baseball game, screaming the lyrics at the top of her voice while covering her ears.

Boos broke out from the audience before she grabbed her crotch, spat on the ground and walked away.

The performance was condemned by many, including then-President George HW Bush.

INGRID’S PERFORMANCE

Ingrid took the field to sing the national anthem during the Home Run Derby on Monday night in Arlington, Texas.

There were players on the field with her, many of them holding their hats on their hearts.

Many managed to stay serious, but some struggled and laughed out loud as Ingrid struggled through the song.

After the country singer finished, X – formerly Twitter – was inundated with harsh criticism of her singing.

“Who actually pays for their music and the tickets to their shows?” asked one critic.

A second social media user mocked: “This is what a Grammy nominee created with Auto-Tune sounds like without Auto-Tune or musical accompaniment.”

“My ears are bleeding,” moaned a third.

“It sounds like she didn’t know the lyrics,” responded a fourth commenter.

A fifth critic said: “The worst national anthem I have ever heard.”

“They just nominate everyone for the Grammys, huh?” said a sixth critical commenter.

Someone else confessed: “I was ashamed of her.”

INGRID REACTS

On Tuesday morning, the Michigan native admitted to being drunk during her performance.

“I’m not kidding you, I was drunk last night,” she wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old admitted that she plans to be admitted to a rehabilitation clinic to receive treatment.

“That wasn’t me last night,” she continued.

“I apologize to MLB, all the fans and this country that I love so much for this portrayal.”

She added that she would tell her supporters “what rehab is like,” joking that she had heard that “it’s super fun.”

The post sparked mixed reactions. Some supporters praised her for her sense of responsibility, while others were less convinced.

“You made it your own, now you take responsibility. Here’s to overcoming it!” wrote one person.

“Sending you love, Ingrid. Being so open takes a lot. You can do it. Hang in there,” wrote a second.

Others continued to mock the star and attacked her for the choice of words in her post.

“Saying that rehab is a lot of fun is ridiculous. It sounds like you’re joking about something that is a very serious matter for others,” one person criticized.

“This seems like a weird way to go through it and get some kind of false confirmation. The joke at the end loses all credibility of the previous statements,” criticized a second.
