Miranda Lambert has found a co-songwriter in her husband Brendan McLoughlin. The 32-year-old former New York City police officer appears to be pursuing his path from cop to country music by collaborating with his wife, a Grammy-winning country singer, on their song D*mmit Randy. According to a source from In Touch Weekly, McLoughlin could make a large sum of money if the song becomes as popular as most of Miranda Lambert’s songs.

“Brendan had ideas for songs before, but Miranda finally brought him in as a full-fledged songwriting partner,” the insider told the aforementioned publication in an article published on Tuesday, July 16. “If the song hits No. 1, like most of Miranda’s songs do, Brendan could make $200,000 or more in royalties!” the source chimed in, adding that the former cop is too young to retire and live off Miranda’s salary alone. “He wants a career, too.”

First, on July 12, the Mama’s Broken Heart singer praised her husband of five years and her latest partner on the song, writing, “Damn Randy, I wrote with Jon Randall and my husband Brendan. He has a part in the record so he doesn’t keep his mouth shut about it, which is funny.”

She later elaborated on how the song came about, telling her fans that the song’s name comes from Randall, whose real name is Randy. The song, according to Lambert, describes the journey “from a place of not feeling particularly supported to a place of feeling supported.”

Lambert and McLoughlin reportedly met in 2018 when he was working as a police officer in NYC. The singer was performing on GMA with her band Pistol Annies when the two first crossed paths. Brendan has one child from a previous relationship, according to multiple media reports, but no children with Lambert.

As for his scandal, in some of the viral videos making the rounds online, the handsome cop, as he is known among Lambert’s fans, appeared to be dancing with several women at Miranda’s bar, Casa Rosa, while his wife was nowhere to be seen. While neither Lambert nor McLoughlin have commented on the said clips, In Touch reports that one of the women in the footage has cleared Brendan of any allegations of wrongdoing and claimed he didn’t cross any lines.
