Mazda has announced pricing and specifications for the 2025 CX-5, which has been around since 2017. Although it’s a bit older, the CX-5 is one of the most popular small crossovers in America and has seen strong sales since its launch. Mazda is emphasizing value for money for the 2025 model year by reintroducing the entry-level 2.5 S trim, which costs a competitive $28,570. It appears Mazda has discontinued the 2.5 S Premium trim. AutoBuzz has contacted the automaker for further information.

Those who want to stand out will opt for the 2.5 S Carbon Edition. With a Polymetal Gray paint finish, 19-inch wheels and gloss black exterior trim, the Carbon Edition stands out from the crowd with its sinister style. Customers can choose between sporty red leather or black leather with red stitching. A 10-speaker Bose premium audio system is part of the package. For 2025, the Carbon Edition will get a wireless charger and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.
Do you want more power? Then upgrade to a turbo model
The 2.5 S Premium Plus adds selectable drive modes (Normal, Off-Road, Sport), a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors and a head-up display. The top-of-the-line naturally aspirated CX-5 also gets ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and steering wheel, paddle shifters and 19-inch wheels, to name a few features. The third generation Mazda CX-5 gets a hybrid drive
The third generation CX-5 will have a self-developed hybrid drive, and the CX-50 will also have a hybrid drive.
Want more power from your crossover? Then you’ll have to spend more for the 2.5 Turbo trim. The 2.5 Turbo trim is available in three trim levels and offers 256 hp and 450 Nm of power, which improves performance significantly. The cheapest entry level is the Carbon Turbo. This model is available exclusively in Zircon Sand Metallic or Rhodium White and has black exterior trim like its 2.5 S sibling. Inside, the Carbon Turbo is fitted with rich Terracotta leather and black faux suede inserts. All Turbo models have heated/ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, paddle shifters and a 360-degree camera.
The top-class Turbo Premium lives up to its name
The Turbo Premium has everything the 2.5 S Premium has, including heated rear seats, traffic jam assist and power-folding mirrors. Visually, the Turbo Premium is differentiated by a gloss black grille and red stitching for the heated steering wheel and shift lever. The top-of-the-line model is the Turbo Signature. The Signature stands out from the rest of the trim with its aluminum and gunmetal exterior trim.
This is noticeable in the interior, where you’ll find a frameless auto-dimming rear-view mirror, satellite navigation and traffic sign recognition. The cabin is finished with luxurious materials such as wood inlays and Caturra brown nappa leather. The Premium trim also gets Smart City Brake Support Reverse and Driver Attention Assist, which adds to the i-Activesense safety features.
What’s next for the CX-5?
While the more rugged CX-50 has received a hybrid option for the 2025 model year, the CX-5 only has two engine options. Those who want a hybrid won’t have to wait long, as Mazda has confirmed that the next generation will receive an electrified powertrain. This means that the 2025 model year could potentially be the last of the current generation, with the new model expected to launch sometime next year. As for optional extras, Mazda doesn’t offer any, but certain paint jobs cost more:
- Soul Red Crystal Metallic: $595
- Machine Gray Metallic: $595
- Rhodium White Metallic: $595
- Zircon Sand Metallic: $450
All prices listed above for the 2025 CX-5 do not include Mazda’s $1,420 delivery fee.
