Soulslike action RPG Chrono Sword announced for Switch

Soulslike action RPG Chrono Sword announced for Switch

Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, Chrono Sword, a new Soulslike action RPG to be developed by 21c.Ducks and published by CFK, will be released for Switch, the companies announced. A release date was not given. In the game, players control Aenor and travel between the past and present to discover the secrets of the world.

For further information, please see the following overview provided to us by CFK:

Chrono Sword is a Souls-like pixel art action RPG developed by Korean developer team 21c.Ducks that tells the story of the dark gothic fantasy world of Adelnor, where players must travel between the past and the future to uncover its secrets. First released to the public in 2019, this Souls-like action RPG attracted a lot of interest in Korea and abroad due to its unique pixel art and gameplay. It was selected as the first game of the cooperation campaign of North American crowdfunding site Kickstarter and global game testing platform Game Round.Inc in 2020, raising over seventy thousand dollars to successfully reach its funding goal.

Developer 21c.Ducks submitted Chrono Sword to numerous game shows in Korea and abroad, where it received praise and awards from several for its gameplay. The developer then used this as an opportunity to refine the game’s gameplay and level design.

Chrono Sword is not another 3D rendered game like many of the Souls-like action RPGs being released these days, but has been rendered in an isometric pixel art style for this unique Souls-like game. Since 21c.Ducks announced the game, they have put their heart and soul into improving the game’s storyline and the features that make it a Souls-like action RPG.

Chrono Sword is spread across a vast, three-dimensional land rendered entirely in pixel art style. Once inside, players embark on a “journey through time” where they can travel back and forth between the past, present, and future, switching between maps seamlessly and without loading screens.

Additionally, the game features a number of systems that incorporate the hard hitting of enemies and players that is typical of the Souls-like genre, but with faster and more intense action. Details of Chrono Sword’s improvements will be announced at a later date.
