YouTube Music is also testing the AI-powered “Conversational Radio” feature

What’s the matter

YouTube Music has launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-based feature called “Sound Search” or “Hum to Search” worldwide.

This innovative tool allows users to find songs by humming a melody or singing some lyrics.

The feature is activated by tapping the seek bar and then clicking a button with a waveform icon. This opens a screen where users can hum or play a snippet of the song they’re looking for.

The Hum to Search feature was first introduced in May

YouTube’s AI song recognition feature initially rolled out to select Android users in May, but was temporarily pulled back ahead of its official global release on Monday.

The feature is now available for both Android and iOS users worldwide.

This launch is part of YouTube Music’s ongoing efforts to improve the user experience through AI-driven technologies.

YouTube Music tests AI-powered “Conversational Radio” feature

In addition to “Hum to Search,” YouTube Music is reportedly testing another AI feature called “Conversational Radio.”

This feature is currently only available to select YouTube Premium users in the US and allows users to access personalized radio stations based on descriptions of the music genre they want to listen to.

Users can request stations that play “catchy pop choruses” or “happy pop anthems.”

The feature will appear in the home feed as a card titled “Ask for music the way you want.”

AI integration is trending in music streaming platforms

The integration of generative AI features into music streaming platforms like YouTube Music indicates a broader trend across all online services.

Other companies such as Spotify, Amazon Music and Deezer are also exploring AI-powered technologies.

These advancements aim to enable users to interact more naturally with their music libraries.

The aim is to make it easier to search for specific songs or discover new music through tailored recommendations based on individual musical tastes.
