Around 11 a.m., three men entered the Walmart store on Marketplace Boulevard and stole more than $1,000 worth of merchandise, police said. Walmart’s anti-theft system recognized at least one of the perpetrators, who had previously stolen from other Walmart stores in the area, and contacted police as the suspects were leaving the store.

Officers arrested one of the three suspects. The other two suspects entered a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu with Michigan license plate EVR4104. The passenger side of the vehicle appears to have minor damage, police said.

While fleeing the scene of the accident, the vehicle struck a Chesterfield Township Police Officer, who suffered minor injuries.

Anyone with information identifying the suspects is asked to contact Detective Katelin Walsh at 586-949-3657 or [email protected].
