The Bookseller – Rights – John Murray Press publishes Billy Connolly’s new book “The Accidental Artist”

John Murray, an imprint of John Murray Press, will publish Billy Connolly’s new book, entitled The Accidental Artist: Drawings and Stories, this October.

Featuring more than 200 pieces of art by Billy Connolly and accompanying stories from the popular comedian, actor, storyteller and artist, The Accidental Artist welcomes readers into the visual world of Billy Connolly.

Connolly uses elegant, simple lines to conjure up a land of fantastical animals, mysterious inventions and blissful tranquility. According to John Murray, some drawings are enchantingly simple, while others are complex, strange or rebellious. Through them, Connolly offers insights into his childhood and his Scottish homeland, and the book promises to take readers on journeys to far-flung places and share in his lifelong obsession with music, wildlife and fashion.

The book is published as a hardcover in Crown Quarto format and is printed in full color throughout. Billy’s unique signature is sprayed on the outer edge of each book.

Nick Davies, managing director of John Murray Press, acquired the worldwide rights directly from Billy Connolly. The Accidental Artist will be released in hardcover on October 24, 2024, with a “major PR and unmissable marketing campaign.”
