🚨 Chelsea confirms disciplinary action over offensive Enzo Fernández video

Chelsea have confirmed that they are taking disciplinary action over a video involving midfielder Enzo Fernández taken after the Copa América final.

Fernández uploaded footage of the Argentine players celebrating their victory over Colombia, which allegedly included racist insults directed at French players.

Wesley Fofana called on his club colleague to look at the footage taken on the Albiceleste team bus after last weekend’s masterpiece.

Fernández has since publicly apologized for the video and stressed that the footage does not accurately reflect his character and views.

The Blues have now responded to the fallout by condemning the actions and launching an investigation into the incident.

“Chelsea Football Club considers any form of discriminatory behaviour to be completely unacceptable,” the club said in a statement.

“We pride ourselves on being a diverse, inclusive club where people of all cultures, communities and identities feel welcome.

“We acknowledge and appreciate our player’s public apology. We will use this as an opportunity to educate him.

“The club has initiated internal disciplinary proceedings.”

In an earlier statement, the French Football Federation confirmed that it would file a complaint with FIFA against the Argentine federation over the “racist and discriminatory comments” made by the Argentine players.

“Given the seriousness of these shocking remarks, which run counter to the values of sport and human rights, the FFF President has decided to contact his Argentine counterpart and FIFA directly to file a complaint for racist and discriminatory remarks,” the French Football Federation said in a statement.
