King & Conqueror is the story of a conflict that shaped the future of a country – and a continent – for a thousand years, with roots stretching back decades through two interlinked family dynasties battling for power in two lands and a raging sea,” reads a plot summary. “Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy were two men fated to meet at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; two allies with no claim to the British throne, forced by circumstance and personal obsession into a war for possession of the crown.”

The BBC has acquired broadcast rights to the series on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK. Outside the UK, the series will be distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
