Free concert series on Labor Day weekend at VB Oceanfront

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Free concerts will be held along the Virginia Beach waterfront over Labor Day weekend.

End the summer with music nights from Friday 30 August to Sunday 1 September, where you can listen to different artists and genres on the seafront. There are several national artists and a house music festival with DJs.

The free series is presented by the City of Virginia Beach, Beach Events and IMGoing.

“Even though many children are starting school early this August, the Virginia Beach Oceanfront remains a popular destination for families this Labor Day weekend,” said William Younce, director of Beach Events. “Everyone is welcome to experience this fantastic lineup of national artists for free.”

The lineup includes nationally known artists such as Grammy-nominated Jordin Sparks, winner of the sixth season of “American Idol,” Umphery’s McGee, The Aquabats!, Daily Bread and 49 Winchester and more.

Friday, August 30

• 24. Street Park: Daily bread
• 31. Street Park: Cimafunk, TUMBAO!

Saturday, August 31

• 17. Street Park: Aquabats, Murphy’s Children
• 24. Street Park: The Lemonheads, Copper B. Handy
• 31. Street Park: Jordin Spakrs, Akeylah Simone

Sunday, September 1st

• 17. Street Park: House musical festival with DJ Ebony, DJ Steven E, Damon Dee and DJ Bee
• 24. Street Park: Umphrey’s McGee
• 31. Street Park: Allen Stone, Cassandra Lewis
