Jasper Parker, a four-star running back in 2025, commits to Michigan Football

The Michigan Football Association has built a recruiting pipeline of sorts in the state of Louisiana during the 2025 recruiting cycle; three of the Wolverines’ 16 verbal commitments came from the Bayou State.

The first Louisiana native to commit to UM was four-star running back Jasper Parker of Marrero (Louisiana) Archbishop Shaw, who was rated as a three-star talent when he entered the Wolverines’ class and has since earned a fourth star in the 247Sports Composite due to a big jump in the On3 rankings.

Parker is currently ranked as the No. 301 prospect, No. 22 running back and No. 9 player in Louisiana’s class of 2025, according to the Composite. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound tailback committed to Michigan during his official visit to Ann Arbor on June 14. Parker previously took official visits to Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State and held offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee and others.

After Parker signed, Michigan also signed his high school teammate, the four-star wide receiver Jacob WashingtonThe Wolverines completed the trio from Louisiana with a verbal commitment from three-star wide receiver Destrehan (Louisiana) Phillip Wright last weekend. Parker was also the first recruiting win for the new UM running backs coach Tony Alfordwho joined the Wolverines’ coaching staff this season after nine seasons at Ohio State. Parker was later joined by the four-star tailback from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Donovan Johnson.

Highlights:

Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked 10th in the country and 3rd in the Big Ten, behind only Ohio State and Oregon. The Wolverines’ average player rating of 91.66 is the eighth-best in the country.
