The NCIS: Secret Service Stories The universe will be bigger in 2024 thanks to the upcoming prequel seriesNCIS: Origins.

CBS announced on Friday, January 7, that the show about Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ (previously played by Mark Harmon) Origin Story received a series order for the 2024-2025 broadcast season.

“We are delighted and honored to be expanding the NCIS: Secret Service Stories Universe in such a unique and unexpected way,” said President Amy Reisenbach said in a press release at the time. “Viewers can look forward to Mark Harmon returning to CBS to tell the complex and mysterious backstory of Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ early years in NCIS: Originsthat builds on the character’s rich legacy while reintroducing fan-favorite characters and introducing new ones.”

Although Harmon retired from the role of Gibbs in 2021 after 18 years, his character’s story is far from over. “This is truly the creation of Leroy Jethro Gibbs,” said the co-showrunners Gina Lucita Monreal And David J. North added: “And even the most committed NCIS: Secret Service Stories Fans will find that they don’t know the whole story.”

What is “NCIS: Origins” about?

The prequel takes viewers back to 1991, “before the events of NCIS: Secret Service Stories“Young Leroy Jethro Gibbs begins his career as a rookie special agent in the fledgling NCIS office at Camp Pendleton, where he fights for his place on a fierce, ragtag team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks,” the logline reads.

Will Mark Harmon be on “NCIS: Origins”?

Harmon will not reprise his role as Gibbs on camera, but he will narrate the series. The actor will also serve as one of the executive producers alongside his son. Sean Harmon. Sean previously played the young Gibbs in NCIS: Secret Service Stories but he will not portray the character this time.

“The character of Gibbs has been a big part of my life for 20 years, both because I watched my father create the role and because I previously had the honor of playing young Gibbs myself,” Sean said in a January press release. “I’ve always felt there was a story about his early years that was worth telling, so I’m thrilled to take on a producer role alongside Gina, David and my father as we tell that story and reveal a new side of this beloved character.”

In addition to a young Gibbs, fans will also see the younger version of Mike Franks (originally played by Muse Watson). TVLine reported in January that a young special agent Vera Strickland, who was Roma Mafiawill appear in season 1.

Who are the producers of “NCIS: Origins”?

Alongside Stowell as young Gibbs, Mariel Molino was cast as the female lead for the series on March 15.

Molino will play Special Agent Lala Dominguez, a former Marine who will play alongside Gibbs. “When a tormented Leroy Jethro Gibbs joins their team, the ensuing story between these two enigmatic outsiders is full of sparks and twists that keep the audience guessing,” the character description reads via Deadline.

Almost a week after Molino’s casting, Kyle Schmid has been added to the series. He will play the young version of Mike Franks, who will lead the special agents at NIS Camp Pendleton.

On 18 April TV line reported that Robert Taylor will play Ralph Waite, the father of Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Daniel Bellomy And Caleb Martin Foote were also cast in recurring guest roles.

Three months later, CBS added Lori Petty as a returning resident and Bobby Moynihan as senior forensic analyst.

When will “NCIS: Origins” premiere?

CBS announced in July that season 1 of NCIS: Origins will premiere on Monday, October 14, as part of the channel’s fall schedule.

Where can you watch NCIS: Origins?

The new series will air weekly on CBS and will be available as a live stream on Paramount Plus for premium subscribers. For all other Paramount Plus users, the episodes will be available the next day.
