Huge 90s megastar moves into Love Island villa in dizzying twist

Love Island already has one British star in Joey Essex, but a global one is next in line – a rap legend is joining the show.

As The Sun revealed, US superstar Eve, known from “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” with Gwen Stefani in 2001, was booked by the producers for an appearance in the villa.

A source told them: “Eve is a fan of the show and jumped at the chance to perform. She’s a pop legend and the islanders will go crazy if she performs in the villa.”

Every year, the producers of Love Island try to outdo themselves by signing bigger and bigger stars to the show.

Previous performers have included Craig David and Wes Nelson, who faced the uncomfortable prospect of having to perform in front of his ex Arabella Chi.

He later stressed that he had only focused on the performance, in which the former lovers did not acknowledge each other in any way, and said: “I did not think about an ex for a single minute.”

Eve, 45, rose to fame in the late ’90s with hit singles such as “What Ya Want” and “Love Is Blind” and was featured on Missy Elliott’s single “Hot Boyz.”

She won a Grammy and an MTV Video Music Award for Let Me Blow Ya Mind, the first single from her second album. She was also impressed by her roles in the Barbershop films.

Love Island returns to ITV2 and ITVX tonight at 9pm.
