Who is Ingrid Andress, the singer who was panned for singing the national anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby?

Country music star Ingrid Andress opened the Home Run Derby in Arlington on Monday with the national anthem.

Hours later, hardly anyone is talking about the game. Most of the attention is focused on the 32-year-old Andress, who is attracting heavy criticism and ridicule on social media and online. USA Today called her performance “embarrassing” and Weekly entertainment said Andress was “not bound by the tones we are used to from the Star-Spangled Banner.” And those were the friendlier reviews.

On Tuesday, Andress shared on social media that she had been drunk during her performance and planned to check into a rehab clinic to seek help.

“That wasn’t me last night,” she posted. “I apologize to MLB, all the fans and this country that I love so much for that performance. I will tell you all what rehab is like. I hear it’s a lot of fun.”
