QWER lands a fitting League of Legends collaboration, releases “ANIMA POWER” song and music video – Asian Junkie

In collaboration with League of Legends, QWER have a Japanese single called “ANIMA POWER” for the new game mode/skin series coming to Riot’s popular MOBA franchise.

It’s inspired by Anima Squad’s summer PvE mode “Swarm,” which is set to introduce a new line of skins that involve cross-breeding animals with cybernetic designs that transform some of the game’s champions into superhuman warriors. The main antagonist is the Primordians, an alien faction that has invaded and is intent on wiping out the planet, and that’s where QWER comes in to save the world. I’ve mentioned in previous articles that their band was formed with some references to games like LoL in the past, so this crossover is the most obvious to me, and the fact that some of the members have either cosplayed or streamed the game regularly makes this mashup a perfect fit.

Now onto the song, which is a short anime intro style video, but what we hear is a very refreshing and cute theme that represents the lightheartedness of the PvE elements of the event along with anime depictions of the Anima Squad and of course the cute Scuttle Crabs!

I liked the Japanese version better than the Korean one, as we got to hear Lee Siyeon sing in Japanese again and it really fit the anime video that accompanied the song. While “ANIMA POWER” is still upbeat and similar to QWER’s other releases, it lacks both the guitar and bass that we’re used to hearing from their tunes. Still, the keyboard and drums really help drive the upbeat and energetic theme of this cheer song, and I especially love the Scuttle Crabs waving their glowsticks as they cheer on the anime depictions of Battle Bunny Miss Fortune and Battle Dove Seraphine (okay, I’ll mention the cute cameo from Yuumi).

There are anime cameos of all the Primordian and Anima skins hidden throughout the video. I really hope this skin series and song resonates with fans so we can get more collaborations like this and hopefully see QWER at something like MSI or Worlds this year.

While this won’t be anything that lights up the year-end charts, it’s absolutely wonderful to see QWER pull off such a fitting collaboration. I’ll definitely be keeping this in the playlist as I dive into another LoL Loser queue session to reset my sanity after my team snatched the game away once again (yes, I’m a stuck ADC main, it’s never my fault if I always lose my glue-sniffing top laner or my helmet-wearing support).

If you also want to see how the girls slowly expand their varied content on YouTube, I would also recommend checking out some of their videos with English subtitles. In particular, their 24 Hour Video Warehouse video where they get into gamer mode, chugging Mountain Dews and winning meme games like Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy.
