Katie Maloney’s best moments on Love Island USA Aftersun

Katie Maloney’s best moments on Love Island USA Aftersun

The crossover between Vanderpump Rules and Love Island USA continued this weekend when Katie Maloney Guest appearance at After sun. Katie’s appearance on the Maura Higgins-hosted show was highly anticipated, and not just because it was a reunion with her friend and business partner Ariana Madix. The Something About Her co-owner is known for her outspoken, “tell it like I see it” attitude, and her tireless willingness to call out bad behavior from men made her a standout on VPR’s 11th season.

With Love Island being full of men behaving badly, fans were looking forward to her putting some of the guys to the test. Needless to say, Katie did not disappoint. Hopefully this is the first of many appearances from Katie in future Aftersun episodes. Here are some of the standout moments from her Aftersun debut on Love Island USA that left us wanting more.

Katie has been Ariana’s most supportive during VPR season 11, and that hasn’t changed. She gushed about Ariana’s successful job as Dream host and called her co-star a “natural.” Katie also revealed that Ariana was the one who got her on the dating show in the first place. And according to Ariana, they started speaking exclusively in Love Island language (very relatable for any fan of that show). Katie even gifted Ariana one of Love Island’s signature water bottles, which Ariana called her “first piece of Love Island lore.” Aftersun host Maura Higgins promised to make it to the sandwich shop and even suggested adding a toastie, the islanders’ favorite food, to the menu.

Katie Maloney warns Tom Schwartz about the girls from Love Island USA

The VPR star was of course asked for her thoughts on the Love Island USA Season 6 cast. “The men disappointed, but I’m used to that,” she joked, adding that she was so proud of all the women. As for specific contestants, she liked Kordell Beckham and Serena Page, but wasn’t so keen on Aaron Evans. Fans compared Aaron to Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz, so that’s not entirely surprising. I wonder if Katie had “ring on a string” flashbacks when Aaron gave Kaylor Martin a seashell on a chain.

Katie criticised Aaron for manipulating Kaylor and belittling her feelings “just to get around his awful behaviour”. In particular, she referred to The Traitors UK winner saying “You’re smarter than that” when Kaylor got upset about a video of him making out with Daniela Noelle.

“I basically married my Aaron, so let me be the cautionary tale,” Katie said, taking a swipe at Schwartz. “It doesn’t have to be like that,” she advised Kaylor, “there doesn’t have to be the ups and downs, that’s not love.” She simultaneously expressed frustration and compassion that Kaylor gave in and forgave him so quickly. Cely Vasquez agreed, reflecting on her similar experience on Season 2 of Love Island USA.

Katie reminds Callum Hole that “no woman wants to be an option”

The Aftersun panel were divided over Kenny Rodriguez’s actions in Casa Amor. Callum Hole argued that Kenny did nothing wrong by bringing another girl into the villa. “Why not bring someone else into the villa to test two connections at once,” the Love Island Games star asked. “Why not?!” Katie disagreed, adding: “Because no woman wants to be an option!”

“If it’s not a f***ing yes, it’s a f***ing no, my friend,” she said. “I don’t want a guy I meet to say, ‘Well, I don’t know.’ I want me to make the decision for you…bye!” What made the moment even better was that Cely hyped up all about Katie’s dating philosophy.

It ended with classic Love Island banter when Katie asked Callum how this approach worked for him. He laughed: “I mean, I’m single so don’t take too much advice.” Katie then joked back that he should stop dating.

Katie loves Liv

Although Liv Walker was a bombshell early on, she might as well have been a girl from day one. Liv didn’t find a romantic connection, but she became a sort of big sister to the girls – even though she was younger than most of them. The ultimate girl’s girl, Liv’s fiery personality won her a legion of fans, including Katie.

As Liv reflected on her Love Island journey, she wondered if she should be less outspoken. Fans cheered when she stood up for herself and always stood up for the girls, especially her best friend Kaylor. However, Liv received a lot of criticism from the boys in the villa. This is something Katie knows from her time on VPR.

When Maura asked her what she learned, Liv said she realized that sometimes she needs to let people stand up for themselves. “I’m still learning that and I’m almost 40,” Katie said. However, Katie advised her, “Don’t lose your voice.” She continued, “That’s so beautiful about you, that you’re not afraid and you don’t back down, and you never should.” Katie also referenced the moment when all the girls stood behind Liv to prevent her from being eliminated. She even said she wants to hang a photo of that scene on her wall.

Much like Ariana, Katie gushed about the supportive friendships of the girls of Love Island USA. After a disappointing season of VPR, viewers of both shows would agree it’s very refreshing. And that insight and experience is one reason we hope Katie returns for Aftersun, either for next week’s finale or future seasons.

Don’t forget that you can also catch Katie on Vanderpump Rules, streaming on Peacock.
