Donald Trump and JD Vance are holding a campaign rally in Michigan this week

(CBS) – Fresh from the Republican National Convention, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Ohio Senator and running mate JD Vance will stop in Michigan this weekend.

According to Trump’s campaign team, the rally will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.

“The people of Michigan have suffered greatly under the failed policies of fraudster Joe Biden,” Trump’s campaign said in a statement. “With inflation at nearly 20% in Michigan, families are paying $980 more per month for everyday goods. If Biden is re-elected, the tax increases he proposes will cost the average Michigan taxpayer an additional $2,054 per year in taxes.”

Saturday’s rally will be the former president’s fifth visit to Michigan in 2024 and the first since he held a panel discussion at 180 Church in Detroit and spoke at Turning Point Action’s People’s Convention at Huntington Place in Detroit in June. Trump last visited Grand Rapids in April, when he focused on immigration and crime.

According to a recent CBS News poll, Trump is two percentage points ahead of President Joe Biden in the swing states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
