A man jumped from an upscale Midtown hotel and died Tuesday morning, sparking a major investigation, police said.
According to law enforcement officials, police officers from the 17th District and emergency services rushed to the Kimberly Hotel at 145 East 50th Street around 10:30 a.m. on July 16 after receiving a report of a seriously injured man.
Officers found a 64-year-old man dead in the rear of the building. After further investigation, police believe the man committed suicide by jumping from the 20th floor of the building. No foul play is suspected at this time.
The sight shocked guests and onlookers as police rushed to and from the scene and the coroner tended to the remains.
“I can’t believe this, how terrible,” said one guest when she heard about the death.
The body was taken from the hotel to the medical examiner’s office, where an autopsy was performed to determine the exact cause of the man’s death.
