Adele is taking a “big break” from music, not to become famous

A new Adele album will not be released anytime soon.

The award-winning singer, who released her last album “30” in 2021, announced that she will retire from music after the end of her “Weekends with Adele” performance in Las Vegas in November.

“I have no plans at all for new music,” she said in an interview with German broadcaster ZDF on Sunday.

“After that I want to take a big break and I think I want to do other creative things, at least for a short time.”

The “Hello” artist added: “I don’t like being famous. I love being able to make music all the time.”

Adele began her Las Vegas residency in November 2022 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Her final show is scheduled for November 23, after performing 10 special shows at the Open Air Arena in Munich from August 2 to 31.

When Adele announced the final dates of her engagement in October, she wrote a heartfelt message about what the “Sin City” shows meant to her.

“This residency, these shows have changed my life,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “I really needed to fall in love with live performance again and I did. I needed to reconnect with my songs and remember what they mean to me and I did!”

She continued: “Being on stage with an audience so close and personal again last year after all these years was a truly extraordinary, relaxing experience that I will never forget. All the hilarious, emotional, wild and heartbreaking interactions we had will stay with me forever.”

So far, Adele has released four albums: “19” (2008), “21” (2011), “25” (2015) and “30” (2021).

In December 2023, the “Easy on Me” artist told The Hollywood Reporter that she was not interested in making new music.

“I’m worried about my voice being overused (at the residency). It’s a lot of singing. It’s two hours long. It’s all live. It’s a lot,” she said. “And I’m fucking babbling and talking my ass off too. But yeah, I don’t have anything to say yet. I haven’t even thought about it.”

She also told the magazine that her “dream job” would be working as a script reader.

When asked if she would start her own production company, the “Set Fire to the Rain” singer replied: “I don’t want to build my own stuff, I want to work with something. I don’t want to create anything. I want to join something. That’s how I feel.”

“That’s what I really want. People think it’s hilarious and don’t take me seriously,” Adele said. “And I often say to my manager, ‘I think I could do really great things, I want to be really successful at something.’ And he goes, ‘What?!’ I thought, ‘I know, but (music) is my hobby. I just fell into it and then it just happened. I want to be on TV and behind the scenes.'”

Perhaps she is also dealing with the topic of motherhood. That same year, at one of her residency shows, she admitted to her fans that she was “ready to be a mother again soon.”

Adele has a 10-year-old son, Angelo, with her ex-husband Simon Konecki. The two divorced in April 2019. She has been with sports agent Rich Paul since the beginning of 2021.
