The trailer for the remake of John Woo’s “The Killer” brings back the two-gun action

Peacock has just released the trailer for The killerJohn Woo’s upcoming remake of his own 1989 action classic. In this new version, Nathalie plays Emmanuel Zee, a mysterious assassin known as the Queen of the Dead. When she refuses to kill a young blind woman (Diana Silvers) on the orders of her superior Finn (Sam Worthington), her world falls apart and she finds herself on the run, catching the attention of police detective Sy (Omar Sy).

When asked why he chose to remake his popular film “Chow Yun-Fat,” Woo said: “Well, the project was in the works for many years, but it was difficult to find a director. When I came back (to the States), we got support from Universal and they asked me to do it. So I decided to give it a try and we have a very good script by Brian Helgeland. He is so wonderful and he wrote the new film in a way that makes it look very different from my work. It looks like another film, not mine. So I took the job and we’ll see how it works out.”

The killer Remake, directed by John Woo, written by Brian Helgeland, Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken, will stream exclusively on Peacock on 23.August.

Emmanuel recently spoke to IGN about the film, “(Zee) has a very specific code of how she likes to do things. And when she is told who to kill and when to kill someone, she does it in her own way. And her dilemma in this film is that she is being asked to kill someone who she believes doesn’t deserve it. And for some reason she can’t believe that person deserves to be killed…” Omar Sy talked about his character, who ironically is called Sy, “I like Sy because he’s a loyal cop who plays by his own rules to ensure real justice and does it with all his heart. It’s more about instinct and feelings, you know? He’s the good guy, but sometimes he crosses the line to do what’s best. That was very interesting to me.”

The two lead actors also showed love and respect for Woo’s original. Emmanuel noted: “I love the original film. I’ve seen it more than a few times. (John Woo) was an innovator of action, in my opinion. And he didn’t just care about the action and the kind of excitement and the spectacle of the action, but he really cared about the characters and their emotional dilemma, you call it. And that’s why it’s an excellent film. I’ve seen a lot of John’s films. I’m a big fan of In the face/out. I think it is one of my favorite pieces of his, and Mission: Impossible 2 is obviously fantastic.”
