What you should know about the latest singer with a remarkable national anthem performance

ARLINGTON, Texas – Another artist learned that singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” is not easy.

Country singer Ingrid Andress sang the national anthem at the 2024 Home Run Derby on Monday. She made some choices. It was notable, but probably not the way Andress intended.

Like Roseanne Barr’s performance at the San Diego Padres’ game against the Cincinnati Reds in 1990 and Fergie’s at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game, there was a lot to be said about Andress’ performance.

Here you can find out everything you need to know about the singer.

Reality TV

Andress’s first brush with fame came when she appeared on the second season of NBC’s a cappella singing competition The Sing-Off in 2010 as part of the group Pitch Slapped. Although the group was eliminated early on, Andress returned to the show the next season as part of the group Delilah.

The winner of this season of the series was, as is well known, the group Pentatonix.

She is now a country singer

Andress released her first album, “Lady Like,” in 2020. It reached number 1 on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart. A year earlier, her single “More Hearts Than Mine” reached the Billboard Hot 100.

Thanks to the single “Wishful Drinking” with Sam Hunt, she landed back in these charts in 2021.

Grammy nominations

Andress was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2021, but ultimately lost to rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

“Lady Like” was also nominated for Best Country Album, while her song “More Hearts Than Mine” was nominated for Best Country Song.

Two years later, “Wishful Drinking” was nominated for a Grammy in the category “Best Country Duo/Group Performance.”

Latest work

Her latest album “Good Person” was released in 2022.

Andress shared on social media this week that she was “totally thrilled” to announce the release of her new single, “Colorado 9,” next week.

She also announced “two very special shows, one in Nashville this Wednesday, July 17th at Row One, and one in Denver on Wednesday, July 24th at Globe Hall.”

“Thank you for being there for me even though I live in a remote area,” Andress wrote. “You guys are the best and I can’t wait to see you at my shows (stay tuned for more show announcements coming soon).”
