Famous rapper arrested in Europe for smoking weed on stage

COSTINEST, Romania – Wiz Khalifa, a popular rapper known for his connection to cannabis, was charged with illegal drug possession in Europe over the weekend.

Khalifa, born Cameron Jibril Thomaz, was performing at a seaside festival in Romania when he lit a joint on stage.

The musician faces up to ten years in prison because cannabis is considered a “risk drug” in Romania.

In a press release, the Romanian Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism stated that a criminal case had been opened against a US citizen who was being investigated for “illegal drug possession,” but Khalifa was not named.

“During a performance at a music festival in the resort of Costinesti, the accused was found to be in possession of more than 18 grams of cannabis and to have consumed another amount (on stage) in the form of a homemade cigarette,” the investigative authority told Agence Free Press.

The musician posted about the incident on the social media platform X on Sunday.

“Last night’s show was incredible. I didn’t mean to disrespect Romania by lighting a cigarette on stage. They were very respectful and let me go,” he wrote. “I’ll be back soon. But next time without a big joint.”
