Chris Speyer from REI becomes new Chief Merchandising Officer at MEC

Chris spent the last seven years as CMO at U.S. outdoor retailer REI Co-op and brings over three decades of leadership experience in outdoor specialty retail, wholesale and direct-to-consumer (DTC) businesses. He will officially join MEC’s ​​leadership team at the end of July.

He grew up in Ottawa where his mother encouraged him to be outdoors, and he began his career in the industry selling skis, bikes and athletic shoes at a local store. Chris is an avid biker, skier and trail runner and recently completed the Canyons 50,000 In Auburn, California.
