ABBA singer Agnetha Faltskog’s worst nightmare has come true

ABBA singer Agnetha Faltskog’s worst nightmare has come true

“It’s not over. At least not for me,” explained Gert van der Graaf, ABBA singer Agnetha Faltskog’s boyfriend-turned-stalker, in a 2023 documentary. Take the opportunity.

And it is certainly shocking news for the 74-year-old star that the Dutch warehouse worker has been spotted in Sweden again. He was previously convicted of harassing the woman in 2000 and again in 2003, was given a restraining order and deported to his native Holland.

“Agnetha must be scared,” commented one fan.

RETURN HOME?

Gert, 58, was reportedly recently spotted on holiday in the Swedish town of Nyköping and is considering moving to the country permanently after his retirement. “It feels like I’ve come home. I want her (Agnetha) to live her life and feel free. I want to move on with my life too.”

But just last year, Gert revealed about Agnetha: “I miss her. She’s always on my mind. She always comes back. Maybe she’s something I can never give up, not until my last breath.”

“She said she was glad I never stopped looking for her. Then I never stop.”

But Agnetha obviously wants this. She wrote Gert a stern letter in 1999, telling him not to have any further contact with her. When he didn’t take this well, she became concerned for her safety.

“We are sitting here, holding hands and are in love. You can see it,” says Gert. (Image: Supplied)

And she had reason to worry. On Christmas Eve 1999, Gert showed up at the singer’s house. “I entered her property with all the security equipment. I knew it wasn’t right. But I really wanted to see her. Then the police arrested me, saying they feared for her life. I would never want to hurt her,” he says.

But in a court statement during Gert’s trial in 2000, the singer claimed that her life had been “significantly restricted” and that she did not dare “go outside without being accompanied by a neighbor.”

She also testified at the trial that between 1997 and 1999, Gert wrote her over 300 letters, called her one to three times a day and followed her everywhere.

Friends say this ordeal is a major reason why the star has lived a largely secluded life in recent years.

BE SILENT

She has also remained categorically silent about this ordeal. “I don’t know if I can talk about it. I don’t think I will,” says the grandmother of four children.

Gert has been diagnosed with erotomania, a rare psychotic disorder in which one believes that someone, usually a person of high rank, is in love with one.

Gert claims that he met Agnetha after he wrote her a letter while he was in hospital following an accident and she came to visit him.

The forklift driver says Agnetha was the first woman he slept with and describes their relationship as a “fairytale.”

Although his story was initially doubted, Agnetha admitted to dating him. “He paid me a lot of attention and after a while I felt I couldn’t resist anymore. I wanted to get to know him,” she said of her decision to date Gert in 1997.

They were together for two years before she broke up with him. A decision that Gert apparently still hasn’t accepted. “I got angry,” he now admits. “I love her very much.”
