“Black Widow” star Scarlett Johansson believes OpenAI CEO Sam Altman “would be a good Marvel villain”

Scarlett Johansson has reflected on her feud with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and agreed in a new interview that he would make a good Marvel villain.

In May Black widow The 39-year-old star revealed that Altman approached her about voicing the current ChatGPT 4.0 system. Although Johansson declined the offer, the company released a voice named Sky, which was later criticized for its similarity to Johansson’s voice.

Johansson issued a statement at the time saying she was “shocked” and “angry” that Altman would “pursue a voice that sounded so eerily similar to mine.”

In a new interview with The New York Timesshe added: “I actively avoided participating in the conversation and that’s what made it so disturbing. I thought, ‘How did I get involved in this?'”

“It was crazy. I was so angry.”

When the interviewer asked if Altman would make a good Marvel villain, Johansson replied, “I think so – maybe with a robot arm.”

After Sky’s launch, Altman apparently confirmed that the system’s voice was developed as a reference to his favorite film. Herin which a man (Joaquin Phoenix) falls in love with his virtual assistant, whose voice was provided by Johansson.

However, amid growing controversy surrounding Sky, OpenAI denied that the voice was based on Johansson’s or was designed to mimic her.

However, the company has removed Sky’s voice and made it unavailable until the company can “answer” questions about how the voice was selected.

“It’s like this dark wormhole that you can never climb out of,” Johannson told NYT of the current age of digital replicas and deepfakes.

In 2011, Johansson was the victim of leaked nude photos by a hacker who stole private photos from her phone that she had sent to her ex-husband Ryan Reynolds.

The hacker, who also targeted Mila Kunis and other women, was eventually caught by the FBI and sentenced to ten years in a federal prison in 2012.

“I think technologies are developing faster than our fragile human egos can process them,” Johansson added, “and the impact is everywhere, especially among young people. This technology is coming at us like a 300-meter-high wave.”
