Learn the art of financial wellness with the FREE Money Wise series

Talking about finances is never fun. I’m pretty sure we can all agree on that. Well, these two El Paso organizations have teamed up to help ease the pain of having to talk about your finances and planning for the future!

FirstLight Federal Credit Union has partnered with local nonprofit organization Mija, Yes You Can to offer locals a series of FREE financial education workshops throughout the year: “Money Wise”

“We are thrilled to partner with Mija, Yes you can®, to bring these workshops to our community. At FirstLight, we believe that teaching financial literacy to individuals is an important step in building a stronger and more resilient community,” said Mayra Garcia Lopez, Grants & Community Impact Manager at FirstLight FCU.

Both organizations aim to promote financial independence with these workshops and assure guests that they will gain valuable insights and practical knowledge that will enable them to make informed financial decisions and achieve their goals in life.

The first of four workshops took place earlier this year on January 25 and dealt with the topic of debt, followed by the second workshop in April, which dealt with credit.

This month’s theme is about planning for the future and takes place at the Old Sheepdog Brewery at 3900 Rosa Ave.:

“You can’t miss this financial literacy workshop that will give you the skills and knowledge you need to secure your financial future. In a time of economic complexity, understanding the importance of financial planning is critical to achieving long-term stability and prosperity.”

The Money Wise workshops are aimed at both women and men and are led by financial experts from FirstLight FCU and guest speakers from Mija, Yes you can.®.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions, ask questions, and receive personalized advice on their specific financial concerns. Oh, and did we mention that guests will receive FREE lunch and other goodies?

Here is an overview of the range of financial topics covered in the remaining two workshops:

  • Let’s talk about future planning: July 25
