Popular country singer Ingrid Andress has come under heavy criticism following her highly questionable performance of the Star Spangled Banner ahead of a baseball event in Texas.
In fact, their performance was so bad that some players were caught laughing, the huge crowd booed, and social media dubbed it the “worst national anthem” of all time.

Sports Illustrated writer Alex Carr wrote on social media: “I am so sorry. I’m sure Ingrid Andress is a wonderful person, but that was, I think, one of the worst national anthems I have ever heard in my entire life.”
Andress was assigned the task of singing the anthem before the MLB Home Run Derby event at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
The event is part of MLB’s All-Star Week and features veterans and young stars battling for the most home runs.

Things started off badly for Andress – a Grammy-nominated star – during her anthem performance, and it’s safe to say it got worse… and worse… and worse.
Alec Bohm, third baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies, couldn’t control himself during the national anthem and burst out laughing.
Of course, memes quickly followed, and with the assassination attempt on Donald Trump on everyone’s lips, pictures of a bloody ear quickly appeared.
“That national anthem by Ingrid Andress was perhaps the worst thing to happen in America in the last 48 hours,” ranted one critic on X (formerly Twitter).
And baseball journalist Michael Schwab said: “My ears are bleeding. One of the worst interpretations of the national anthem ever.”
Another fan joked: “A rough week for listeners in America.”
And another: “First Trump’s ear, now ours.”
And another: “Absolute disgrace. The players laughed!”
And another: “What a shame. Was she a substitute for a real talent? It physically hurt to hear that.”
Andress is certainly no slacker in the industry.
She has performed with Australian legend Keith Urban and other globally loved music icons such as Stevie Nicks.
She is also about to release a new single called Colorado 9.
But her performance joined the conga line of bad anthem performances in the States, namely comedian Roseanne Barr (1990), sprinter Carl Lewis (1993) and former Black Eyed Peas star Fergie (2018).
Fergie even made a statement after her mistake and apologized to the country.
“Fergie thanks her for accepting the award (for worst performance),” Schwab said.
But not everyone agreed with this assessment.
“Rosanne still has the award, but she’s way up there,” one fan commented.
“Carl Lewis won’t be turned away,” said another fan.
