Arsenal’s Amario Cozier-Duberry will leave the club when his contract expires this month

Amario Cozier-Duberry is expected to leave Arsenal this month after his contract expires.

Cozier-Duberry, 19, has turned down the offer of a new contract with the club, with the main reason given being the lack of clear opportunities to progress into the first team.

Arsenal are aware that the increased standard of the first team has made it more difficult for academy players to fill the gap, but are confident Cozier-Duberry could do so in time.

Their contract offer was made last summer with the intention of a loan in January, but that potential loan did not materialise with Cozier-Duberry in the final year of his existing contract.

The winger, who joined Arsenal from the youth ranks as a 14-year-old and helped the Under-18s reach the final of the FA Youth Cup in 2022/23, has already played for the first team for two seasons but has not yet made his official debut.

He appeared for Mikel Arteta’s side in friendlies against Lyon, AC Milan and Juventus during the 2022 World Cup.

Cozier-Duberry, an England Under-19 international, has been named to the first-team bench eight times by Arteta but has never played. Two of those occasions came in 2023/24, in a 1-0 League Cup win over Brentford and a 2-0 Champions League win over Sevilla.

Last season he scored 13 goals and provided five assists for the U21 team. In total he has played 48 games at this level (18 goals and 10 assists), which should have served his purpose.

The 19-year-old is said to have attracted interest in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Denmark and is also being watched by Premier League and Championship clubs.

Apparently, he has not yet decided on his next club.
