DONALD Trump’s vice presidential candidate JD Vance has been married to his wife Usha Chilukuri since 2014 and sees her as a strong female voice.

Chilukuri, 38, stood alongside Vance, 39, at the Republican National Convention when the Ohio senator was announced as Trump’s vice presidential candidate.

The couple met in the 2010s while studying at Yale Law School.

In 2013, they organized a discussion group to discuss the “social decline in white America,” according to the New York Times.

During his studies, Chilukuri also served as senior editor of the Yale Journal of Law & Technology and executive development editor of the Yale Law Journal.

Chilukiri said she was attracted to the vice presidential candidate because of his positive attitude.

“He felt completely different,” she said of Vance’s positive attitude in a 2017 interview with Megyn Kelly.

“SPIRIT GUIDE”

In his memoir, Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis, Vance described his wife as his “Yale spirit guide,” according to the New York Times.

In his book he deals with the values ​​of his family as well as the social and socioeconomic problems of his hometown in Ohio.

“She instinctively understood the questions I didn’t even know to ask, and she always encouraged me to look for opportunities I didn’t know existed,” he wrote.

Before Chilukiri was the voice of his life, his grandmother, whom he called Mamaw and wrote about in his memoirs, was a constant source of support.

“I’m one of those guys who really thrives on having a powerful female voice over my left shoulder saying, ‘Don’t do this, do this,'” Vance said on Megyn Kelly’s podcast The Megyn Kelly Show in 2020.

TRUMP’S running mate

Trump announced on Monday afternoon that Vance was his candidate for vice president.

The former president announced his choice on his social media platform Truth Social.

“After much thought and consideration, and taking into account the tremendous talents of many others, I have concluded that Senator J.D. Vance of the great State of Ohio is the person best qualified to serve as Vice President of the United States,” Trump wrote.

Trump praised Vance’s accomplishments, honoring his service in the Marine Corps, his time as a senator from Ohio and more.

“JD has had a very successful business career in technology and finance, and will now focus his campaign heavily on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American workers and farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota and far beyond,” he continued.

In another post, Trump continued his praise for the senator from Ohio.

“As Vice President, JD will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand with our troops, and do everything he can to help me MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.

“Congratulations to Senator JD Vance, his wife Usha, who also graduated from Yale Law School, and their three beautiful children. MAGA2024!”

The US Sun has asked the Vances for comment.
