8 captivating books with short chapters that will keep you hooked

Short chapters are really handy as I can get through them quickly. I end up starting several new chapters and feel the reward circuit in my brain smiling triumphantly. If you’re looking for books with short chapters to help you get out of a slump, or even to squeeze a few words into a busy schedule, this list is for you. It includes some books I love and others I’m dying to check out.

12 fantasy books inspired by mythologies from around the world

Cultures around the world have vibrant and meaningful folklore, stories passed down from generation to generation, stories whispered by the bed or recited around the campfire, stories told over dinner or performed on stage. Retellings are in many ways the continuation of that tradition – another person putting their own modern twist on a story that has been told over and over again.

About art, fashion and what it can mean to be Asian American

Simon Wu is a curator and writer, currently a PhD candidate in art history at Yale University. This is not a book you can devour quickly. You really should take your time with it, and I searched online for some of the artworks the author references, not because he doesn’t describe them well, but because he writes about them so well that I wanted to see them for myself. I appreciate reading about the art world from a queer Asian American perspective.

Summery Christmas spirit

There are adorable reading lamps, whimsical tea accessories, cute blankets, and more. I’ve also included some outdoor-friendly supplies for the brave souls willing to brave the heat.

Let’s dive right into another batch of new YA book releases. Whether you’re a fan of hardbacks or love the portability of a paperback, there’s something for you this week.

9 non-fiction books for young adults that adult readers should also readk Back to top

Why read young adult nonfiction? One reason is the same reason you should read middle grade and young adult fiction: because if you don’t, you’re missing out on some excellent books by any standard. Another appeal of young adult (and children’s) nonfiction is that it can provide an accessible introduction to an intimidating subject. That’s why task #15 of the 2024 Read Harder Challenge is: Read a nonfiction book for young adults.

Young adult nonfiction can be divided into two categories: original titles and adaptations of adult nonfiction. I’ve included a mix of both in this list.
