Yankees hitters reveal which players they would like to be teammates with

Yankees hitters Juan Soto and Aaron Judge were asked at All-Star Media Day on Monday which MLB star they would like to play on the same team with.

For Soto, it is Shohei Ohtani, the Los Angeles Dodgers batter who hit the 200th home run of his major league career in Saturday’s 11-9 loss in 10 innings against the Detroit Tigers.

“Ohtani would be one of the best,” Soto said of SNY. “Now he’s gone to the NL and I’ve gone to the AL, so it was a little tricky, but Ohtani would definitely be one of them.”

And Judge? He would love to play alongside Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson.

“When you see what he does for them, they’re the first ones to do their thing and it’s just impressive to see that,” Judge said of SNY. “Every at-bat, he gets his walks, he plays great defense. He hits the ball out of the ballpark. He hits for average. Great instincts on the base path. He’s definitely a special talent.”

Both Soto and Judge opted not to participate in the MLB Home Run Derby on Monday night, but will be starters in Tuesday’s All-Star Game at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Soto won the event in 2022 and Judge was crowned champion as a rookie in 2017.

“It was fun. I had a blast doing it, but it’s time for others to do it and have fun doing it. Hit some home runs,” Judge said of SNY. “I’ll probably do it again sometime, but not this year.”
