Can you belive that June Squibb never had a leading role in a film yet?!

The 94-year-old actress began her acting career on stage and even appeared in the original production of the popular musical GypsyShe received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2014 for her work in Nebraska. Now she is starring in the action comedy Thelmawhich is now in cinemas.

“I always loved what I did,” she told Vulture about playing supporting roles. “I just wanted to work. And I think it’s true that the more you work, the bigger the roles get – not always, but most of the time.”

Thelma is also one of the best rated projects of June‘s career with a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes!

Junewho did most of her own stunts in the film, plays Thelma Post, a spirited 93-year-old grandmother who is scammed by a telephone scammer posing as her grandson (Fred Hechinger) and embarks on a dangerous journey through Los Angeles, accompanied by an ageing friend (Richard Roundtree) and his scooter to reclaim what was taken from her. Parker Posey, Clark GreggAnd Malcolm McDowell also star.
