AMD Ryzen 9000 series in detail, release on July 31

AMD has officially announced the Ryzen 9000 series. The lineup is set to launch on July 31st. Pricing has yet to be announced, but we know that the series will consist of four products (9950X, 9900X, 9700X, 9600X) based on AMD’s Zen 5 CPU architecture and should offer a nice performance boost compared to existing AMD CPUs.

The Ryzen 9 9900X is said to perform better than the popular Intel Core i9 14900K, with AMD claiming an 11% performance boost when running Cyberpunk 2077 and a 21% overall productivity boost. It’s hard to say how impressive these numbers are without seeing a price tag, but it will likely be on par with the 14900K (which retails for around $620).

The Ryzen 7 9700X is expected to outperform the existing Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which is already a great option for building a gaming rig. This CPU is currently on sale at Amazon for $339 (down from $449). So the Ryzen 9000 series is just around the corner, but now is not a bad time to upgrade your rig.

Here’s a closer look at the four Ryzen 9000 CPUs coming later this month:

Ryzen 9000 series CPUs

  • Ryzen 9 9950X (16 cores, 32 threads)
  • Ryzen 9 9900X (12 cores, 24 threads)
  • Ryzen 7 9700X (8 cores, 16 threads)
  • Ryzen 5 9600X (6 cores, 12 threads)

Pre-orders for the Ryzen 9000 series aren’t open yet, but we’ll be sure to update the list once retailers open their doors. For now, you can check out a long list of discounted AMD and Intel processors, as the Ryzen 7 5800X is only $190 (down from $449) and the Intel Core i9-13900KF is $426 (down from $599).
