Voice Winner Huntley sings “River” with his daughter

The voice Season 24 winner Huntley just learned a very important lesson for parents: Sometimes your kids know best.

How to watch

Watch the Season 26 Premiere The voice on Monday, September 23rd, at 8/7c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.

In a short Instagram video posted on July 14, Huntley was spotted belting out the lyrics to Bishop Briggs’ “River,” showing off the powerful voice that made him a fan favorite in Season 24. Everything was going well until his adorable 6-year-old daughter Stella showed up and decided to give her dad an impromptu singing lesson.

“Getting some tips from my mini ❤️,” Huntley wrote in the caption.

The father of two was speechless. The 34-year-old was clearly amazed by little Stella, who showed him how “River” should really be sung! It sounds like the amazing vocal range and talent runs in the family, as Stella has a thunderous tone just like her father. The only thing sweeter than Huntley being outshone by his daughter was the handshake they exchanged when she finished singing.

This isn’t the first time Stella has stolen the show. The six-year-old memorably helped her dad choose a coach after Huntley’s iconic four-chair turn performance during the Season 24 Blind Auditions!

What you should know about “River” by Bishop Briggs

Released in 2016 as the second single from Briggs’ debut album, Church of Scars“River” stands out for its unapologetic rock feel. It is a stadium anthem in the truest sense of the word. The inspiration for the song was the eccentric artist pushing himself to his limits.

“It was about the tension,” Briggs told Harper’s BAZAAR in 2017. “I hope the song makes people feel like they can take matters into their own hands. I always have that image in my mind, especially when I was writing it, of getting in someone’s face, egging them on, asking them to push me to my limits. I think there’s something powerful and exciting about that.”

The song helped the British singer-songwriter reach new heights as it quickly became a top 10 Billboard Hit in countless countries in 2016. Today, “River” lives on as a powerful reminder of Briggs’ incredible talent and will still be played on rock radio in 2024 – in the same musical space that Huntley currently occupies.

The music video for the song is a dark, twisted and Kafkaesque work of art – pretty much the opposite of a “simple live performance” video. Check it out here, but we think it’s best that Huntley waits until his daughter is a little older before showing her the video!
