Professional golfers tend to have better control over their emotions on the course than the average amateur. But that doesn’t mean they’re immune to the occasional tantrum – like the one Abraham Ancer had after messing up a chip at a LIV golf tournament in Spain.

Golf is one of the most frustrating pastimes one can willingly engage in, and there is little that can be done to avoid the almost inevitable moments of irrational anger that occur with incredible frequency and regularity on golf courses.

If you’ve ever had to resist the urge to sling a bat over your knee or throw your entire bag into the nearest pond before rushing to your car, then you’ll probably find the classic saying often used to help weekend hackers put things in perspective: You’re not good enough to get angry.

Of course, this advice doesn’t apply to people who are good enough to play golf for a living, and considering how high the stakes can be in a professional environment, it’s honestly surprising that we don’t see more people losing their cool on the course.

Nevertheless, Abraham Ancer certainly did what he could to contribute on this front.

The 33-year-old (who moved from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf in 2022) previously we had a solid club throwing when the league traveled to Nashville in June, but that was nothing compared to what we witnessed on Sunday when he fell one chip short while his team (Fireballs GC) was in the hunt for the team trophy.

Acer (who was able to redeem himself somewhat with a chip-in on the next hole) ultimately finished the day with +1.

He and David Puig had to settle the team score in a playoff against Bryson DeChambeau and Paul Casey of Crushers GC, but things ultimately turned out well for the former duo after they secured the win and the $3 million prize money that came with it.
