Mastercard launches ‘Her Voice’ podcast series in Egypt to inspire the next generation of female changemakers

Mastercard has announced the launch of its award-winning podcast series, Her Voice, in Egypt, a major step in the company’s efforts to empower female entrepreneurs and small businesses in the country. Her Voice aims to highlight the stories of female entrepreneurs and innovators in business, social impact, culinary arts, travel, retail and e-commerce.

In a region where the number of female entrepreneurs is rapidly increasing, Her Voice is proving to be a pivotal platform that not only shines a spotlight on exceptional women at the forefront of innovation, but also strengthens the transformative power of female-led companies.

“At Mastercard, we believe in the tremendous potential of women and the pivotal role they play in the global economy. Her Voice stems from our desire to create a space where women’s voices are heard, their stories inspire, and their innovations unlock untapped opportunities. We see the podcast series as a catalyst for change, igniting a spark in each listener that drives them to make a positive contribution to their community. We look forward to seeing the ripple effect of Her Voice on the future of women-led businesses in Egypt,” said Inji Borai, VP and Country Manager for Egypt at Mastercard.

Launched on July 2, the podcast series highlights the achievements of female pioneers and aims to motivate individuals to reach their full potential and encourage one another through compelling stories and shared wisdom. Each episode presents listeners with a unique blend of inspiration, insights and perspectives from women who dared to step outside the box and reshape Egypt’s landscape in terms of women’s empowerment over the past decade.

Hosted by renowned Egyptian actress Mariam El Khost, each episode tells the inspiring journey of a unique female guest personality. Speakers include Asmaa Khattab, founder of cultural tourism company Walk Like an Egyptian, Laila Sedky, founder of NOLA and artist, Dina El Mofty, founder of INJAZ Egypt, Mounaz and Aya Abdelraouf, co-founders of Okhtein, and Rania Ayman, founder and CEO of Entreprenelle. These female trailblazers tell their stories in their own voices and discuss their personal inspiration, motivation, and their vision for an inclusive future.

In addition, Mastercard has partnered with Entreprenelle, a social and business development organization that supports, connects and educates women entrepreneurs, to offer two remarkable female entrepreneurs the opportunity to receive a one-year membership and appear in their own episodes of the series.

In 2020, Mastercard doubled down on its commitment to financial inclusion as a path to broad-based prosperity, with a particular focus on providing 25 million women entrepreneurs with solutions that can help them grow their businesses. By leveraging technology, philanthropy and its partner network, the company has reached 25 million women entrepreneurs, with more actions and support to come. Mastercard also partnered with Women Choice to launch the Social Innovation Incubator (SII) For Women’s Employment. The program will help create one million jobs for women in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), supporting inclusive economic growth in the region.
