Piscataqua Garden Club Announces Grants and Programs

York, ME – The Piscataqua Garden Club is announcing solicitations for its Community Grants program. These grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations for projects in southeastern Maine and New Hampshire, with funding typically ranging from $500 to $3,000.

The projects will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. Improve and preserve the natural environment of the area.

2. Improving the landscape and built environment of our communities, both historic and new, through education and action.

Application forms are available online at https://piscataquagardenclub.org upon request from any Piscataqua Garden Club member or may be submitted via U.S. mail to the Grants and Scholarships Chair at the address below.

Completed applications must be returned by August 1 to: PGC Grants and Scholarships Chair, PO Box 363, York Harbor, ME 03911.

All applicants will be notified in mid-September.

The Piscataqua Garden Club (PGC), a member of the Garden Club of America, was founded in 1926. Members come from the coastal region from Wells, Maine to Hampton, New Hampshire. The PGC promotes a knowledge and love of gardening and floral design. It works to protect, restore and improve the quality of the environment through conservation, urban improvement and preservation studies, programs and actions.

The Piscataqua Garden Club is hosting a panel discussion about waste and lack of sustainability in the fast-fashion clothing industry. Participating in the discussion will be Jennifer Moore, founder and co-founder of Project Upcycle, a sustainable fashion competition featuring designers from across New England. The event, which will take place at 10:30 a.m. on July 18 in the York Harbor Reading Room, is open to the public.
