(Image) Chelsea star takes over the jersey number of the club legend for the new season

Chelsea have announced some squad number updates ahead of the new season, with Levi Colwill taking over the number six shirt from Thiago Silva.

Colwill played last season in the number 26 shirt made famous by John Terry and has adopted the number of another legend ahead of next season: Silva.

The academy graduate played in the number 6 shirt during his loan to Brighton in the 2022/2023 season and will wear that shirt on his back again.

New signings Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Renato Veiga were given the numbers 4, 37, 38, 22 and 40, while Wesley Fofana moves to number 29.

Chelsea completed their first week of pre-season training last week and will play their first pre-season game in America against Wrexham on July 24.

The tour will also see the Blues face Club America, Celtic, Real Madrid and Manchester City before facing Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge on August 11, a week before the opening game of the season.
