Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi condemns attack in Manipur and calls for decisive action by central government to end raging ethnic conflict

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has condemned the recent attack on a convoy of security personnel in Jiribam, Manipur, in which a CRPF personnel was killed, and urged the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take decisive action to resolve the ongoing ethnic conflict in the state.

“The violence that began on May 3 last year continues to this day. A state has completely collapsed. When will the central government and the prime minister wake up from their slumber?” Priyanka Gandhi said in a post on X.



Expressing her condolences for the injured soldiers, she added, “The news of a soldier being killed in the attack on the CRPF convoy in Manipur is extremely sad. May God grant peace to the soul of the deceased. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. I pray for a speedy recovery of the three injured soldiers.”

Former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Congress MP Sachin Pilot also paid tribute to the fallen soldier and wrote in a post on X: “I offer my deepest tributes to the fallen soldier in the cowardly attack on the CRPF convoy in Manipur. May God grant the departed soul a place at His holy feet and grant a speedy recovery to the injured soldiers.”

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh strongly condemned the attack and expressed his condolences to the affected families.

“I strongly condemn the killing of a CRPF soldier in an attack by an armed group suspected to be Kuki militants in Jiribam district today,” Biren Singh posted on X. “His supreme sacrifice in the line of duty shall not be in vain. I also convey my sincere condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased soldier and pray for a speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.”

The incident occurred when insurgents ambushed a convoy of security officials in Jiribam, killing one CRPF personnel and injuring several others. Manipur has been gripped by ethnic conflict since May 2023.
