Kasabian’s “Happenings” rocks at number 1 in the British charts, displacing Taylor Swift

Kasabian are back on top! The Leicester rockers have achieved their seventh official UK No.1 album with their latest release. Events.

With their eighth studio album, Sergio Pizzorno, Chris Edwards, Ian Matthews and Tim Carter displace Taylor Swift and conquer the top of the charts.

Events joins an illustrious line of previous UK No. 1 albums, including Rich (2006), West Ryder Asylum for the Pauper (2009), Velociraptor! (2011), 48:13 (2014), For heaven’s sake (2017) and The Alchemist’s Euphoria (2022).

Her debut album Kasabian (2004) reached number 4, while their compilation album Kasabian: The Albums reached 22nd place.

Speaking to the Official UK Charts, Pizzorno expressed the band’s gratitude: “What’s up, pop pickers? That’s seven official UK No.1 albums in a row. Thank you to our fans, the greatest in the world. Without you we are nothing, we absolutely adore you!”

Kasabian also celebrated his success with a somewhat more colorful comment: “This is wonderful, damn, yeah! Come on!”

In addition to topping the official British album charts, Events tops the Official Vinyl Albums Chart as the most popular record on vinyl last week and the UK Official Record Store Chart.

With their seventh chart-topping album, Kasabian joins the distinguished company of other music legends such as Blur, Muse, The Prodigy, Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Cliff Richard and Ed Sheeran.

Swifts The “Tortured Poets” section falls to number 2 after spending eight consecutive weeks at the top. The album remains the most successful of 2024 in the UK so far, having achieved over 542,000 chart units since its release in April.

Chappell Roan makes it into the UK’s top 5 with The rise and fall of a Midwestern princessduring Eminem’s Curtain up: The hits rises two places to number 7 after the release of his new album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).

Fleetwood Mac 50 years – Don’t Stop climbs four places to number 8, coinciding with Stevie Nicks’ headline performance at London’s BST Hyde Park.

Zach Bryans The great American bar scene debuts at number 16, a career high for the country star from Oklahoma, while The Killers’ Rebel Diamonds jumps 14 places to No. 32 as they begin their six-night residency at the O2 Arena in London.
