Bad sleeping weather possible tonight, severe storm possible on Monday

Bad sleeping weather possible tonight, severe storm possible on Monday

Tonight we could expect severe weather in extreme southern Michigan. Even if there are no severe thunderstorms, it could be a loud night in the southern end of the Great Lakes State. More severe thunderstorms could move across southern Michigan late Monday.

Here is the severe weather forecast for tonight through Monday at 8 a.m. What you see here is the average track of the thunderstorm complexes over the next few days. Severe storms should develop over the Midwest and move southeast into the Great Lakes region. Tonight’s wave of thunderstorms could reach the southwesternmost corner of Lower Michigan around midnight and move into the Jackson, Ann Arbor and Detroit areas between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Risk of strong winds tonight until Monday 8:00 a.m.

It looks like at least two waves of thunderstorms, one tonight and another tomorrow afternoon or evening. There could be a third wave of thunderstorms early Tuesday morning.

The cross-hatched black lines over the southwestern corner of Michigan are in an area with a 10 percent chance of strong wind gusts up to 75 mph as the storm line reaches southwest Michigan. If that happens, the storm line could reach Ann Arbor, Jackson and Lansing late Monday.

A series of severe storms is expected from Monday 8:00 a.m. to Tuesday 8:00 a.m.

The radar forecast suggests two waves of thunderstorms.

Radar forecast from midnight today until Tuesday 7am.

Be prepared for severe storms tonight if you’re just sleeping in Southern Michigan. Keep in mind the possibility of stronger, more severe storms Monday afternoon.
