Tracking Tennessee baseball players and newcomers selected in the 2024 MLB Draft

The Tennessee baseball team selected four players in the first two rounds of the 2024 MLB Draft on Sunday, a program record.

Christian Moore was selected No. 8 by the Los Angeles Angels. Moore is the highest drafted player under manager Tony Vitello. Blake Burke followed shortly after, giving UT two first-rounders for the second time in three seasons. Billy Amick and Dylan Dreiling were selected No. 60 and 65, respectively, completing the first two rounds for the Vols.

Rounds 3 through 10 will take place on Monday and rounds 11 through 20 will take place on Tuesday. The second and third days begin at 2 p.m. ET and can be streamed on MLB.com.

2B Christian Moore

Elaborated: Los Angeles Angels, Round 1 (No. 8 overall)

What you should know: Moore had one of the best seasons in Tennessee history in 2024. The junior second baseman hit a program-record 34 home runs and set a career high with 61. The Brooklyn native batted .375 with 74 RBIs, which ranks seventh in single-season hits in Vols history. He had 19 doubles and two triples. Moore ranks sixth in UT history with 160 RBIs and third in slugging percentage at .697. He also has the third-most extra-base hits with 100, while ranking fifth with 115 walks and fourth with 179 runs.

1B Blake Burke

Elaborated: Milwaukee Brewers, Round 1, Contest Record A (No. 34 overall)

Slot value: $2,698,300

What you should know: Burke was selected to the first-team All-American multiple times as a junior after hitting .379 with a team-high 20 home runs and 61 RBIs. He set the UT program record with 30 doubles in 2024 after hitting a total of nine in his first two seasons. The Californian hit 50 home runs in his Tennessee career, second only to Moore’s 61.

3B Billy Amick

Elaborated: Minnesota Twins, Round 2 (No. 60 overall)

Slot value: $1,453,700

What you should know: Amick posted a .306 batting average with 23 home runs and 65 RBIs in 2024. He had 163 total bases, which ranks 10th in a single season at Tennessee. Amick transferred from Clemson to Tennessee after the 2023 season after being a breakout star and an All-ACC selection. The third baseman posted a .338 batting average with 36 home runs and 128 RBIs between Tennessee and Clemson.

OF Dylan Dreiling

Elaborated: Texas Rangers, Round 2 (No. 65 overall)

Slot value: $1,287,600

What you should know: Dreiling will be remembered as one of the best players in Vols history. He had an incredible sophomore season with the Vols, posting a .341 batting average with 23 home runs and a team-high 75 RBIs in 2024. He was selected to the All-SEC first team. He was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player after a whirlwind six-game series in Omaha.

Tennessee has seven new recruits who are among the top 200 MLB draft prospects according to MLB.com.

First baseman Eric Rataczak, transferred from Niagara, is also draft-eligible and could be selected on the third day.
